Jeannine started training Eggie when he was 8 years old. She had recently gone to a seminar and wanted to try some of the methods on a new dog. So, Eggroll got the job! He was extremely food motivated and learned attention quickly. He was matched and was doing quite well when he began having problems with lameness, his vision and hearing. He was known even then to push poor Scamper out of the way if he was in the room to get into heel position--there might be treats!! Jeannine feels he was one of the easiest dogs to teach attention to although she would not say he was particularly intelligent. Food drive can make up for a lot. He taught her a lot about motivating a dog who does not play with toys and has not been taught to interact the way most Obedience dogs have.
Eggroll was adopted from a shelter at the age of 5 years. He was an early Christmas gift from Jeannine to her mother who wanted a pug. As with Stiener, Eggroll had to "commute" to Jeannine's house. Eggroll never forgot it was she who got him out of the shelter. They had a special bond . He was a great family pet.
